The accolades

Sandy Brown is internationally known as an influential figure in European and World ceramics. Apart from her many private commissions, forty five Museums across the world hold pieces of her work in their collections.

An enormous Sculpture of Sandy’s is the aptly named “Temple”. Along with creations by Damien Hirst, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Anthony Gormleys, it was exhibited at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire as part of Beyond Limits: Landscape of British Sculpture 1950 – 2015 curated by Sotheby’s.

As well as her private works, there are a number of other commissions in the offing, waiting for Sandy’s attention:

A Ceramic Henge, which is a possibility in 2 – 3yrs time.

If you would like to visit Brunswick Wharf, Bideford, website. Sandy Brown is mentioned as a possible candidate for an exciting new sculpture.

Last, but not least, a secret project, which she was not at liberty to discuss with me at the moment. I am sure it will be exciting so watch this blog to find out more.

I came away from my chat with Sandy Brown, feeling inspired, invigorated and I must admit, just a tad tired. Not because I was bored, you understand, but the sheer enormity and output of her creations, together with her variations of techniques left me completely overwhelmed. The lady behind these influential pieces is both warm, generous and with a sense of humour, which makes you feel that everything in the world is perfect. Something we all need to feel in these uncertain times.
